The Beginning

What shall I do with my sorry excuse for a life? I was raised to be the child I should; but soon I'll be a child no longer. I'm on the threshold of an adventure; we call it life. There are many roads I can take; like the Place de l'Étoile, there are many choices and here I sit on top of the Arc de Triomphe, prematurely celebrating my victories. I'll have some victory within my life I'm sure, but along what path? So many questions, so many concerns: Will I survive all alone, can I make it on my own, will I change the world to come, and will I have a friend to come along? Or perhaps, I will fail, I'll live hidden in shadows, watching the world leave me in the dust; alone, desolate, and forgotten. I wait at the crossroads over looking my options; will it be the right choice? My journey is about to begin.
*Place de l'Étoile is a roundabout in France with 12 avenues meeting it; the Arc de Triomphe, a giant, decorative arch sits at the middle of it all; a tribute to Emperor Napoleon's war achievements.

Nice symbolism. This is also good but really sad.
